Settling Process

Settling in at Wimbledon Villa

Moving into residential care is a big change, for you and for your family. Our aim is to make the first days and weeks as calm, familiar and welcoming as possible, so that Wimbledon Villa can start to feel like home.

What to expect

  1. A warm welcome. Our team will welcome you and your family, show you around and introduce you to the people who will be caring for you.
  2. A smooth handover. We work closely with your current care providers to make sure we have the right information about your needs and preferences.
  3. Getting to know you. We take time to learn your routines, preferences, culture and the things that matter to you, and we help you get to know everyone in your new home.
  4. Regular check-ins. Our team will check in regularly and adjust support as your needs change.

Making your room feel like home

We encourage residents to bring familiar belongings such as photographs, artwork, a favourite chair, bedspread or small pieces of furniture to help their room feel like home. We just need to make sure there is enough space for safe movement and care. Personal laundry is done on site, so please label all clothing clearly with the resident’s name.

How families can help

  • Share the resident’s story, routines, preferences and favourite things with our team.
  • Bring familiar belongings that make their room feel personal.
  • Talk with us about cultural and spiritual needs. Family and whānau are welcome to be involved.
  • Let us know early if something does not feel right. We would like to hear from you.
