Frequently Asked Questions

A few practical answers about moving into Wimbledon Villa, day-to-day care and fees. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please get in touch with our team.

General

For long-term residential care, you will usually need a Needs Assessment to confirm the level of care that is right for you.

A good place to start is by speaking with your GP, who can refer you to your local Needs Assessment and Service Coordination service.

If you’re not sure where to begin, please give us a call or email us to Jonwell@wimbledonvilla.co.nz. We’re happy to work you through the process, help you understand the next steps, and point you in the right direction.

An EPOA allows someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf if you are no longer able to do so yourself. EPOAs can cover Personal Care & Welfare and Property matters. A lawyer or Public Trust can provide advice and help arrange the appropriate documents.

Absolutely. We encourage residents to bring familiar belongings such as photographs, artwork, a favourite chair, bedspread or small pieces of furniture to help their room feel like home. We just need to make sure there is enough space for safe movement and care.

Personal laundry is done on site at Wimbledon Villa. We ask that all clothing is clearly labelled with the resident’s name so it can be returned to the right person. Delicate or special-care items may be better looked after by family.

We encourage residents and families to talk with us if something does not feel right. Often, concerns can be resolved quickly by speaking with the Registered Nurse or management team. You can also make a formal complaint in writing and are welcome to have a family member, whānau member, advocate or support person involved.

Clinical

Medical care is normally arranged through Feilding Healthcare, whose GP supports residents at Wimbledon Villa. If you have an existing GP or particular circumstances you would like to discuss, please talk with our team before admission.

Our clinical team manages medications in partnership with the resident’s doctor or Nurse Practitioner and pharmacy, helping to ensure medications are supplied and administered safely.

Yes. We want residents to stay connected with the beliefs, traditions and communities that are important to them. Cultural and spiritual needs are discussed as part of each resident’s care planning, and family and whānau are welcome to be involved.

Wimbledon Villa is a smoke-free environment. If a prospective resident currently smokes or vapes, please talk with us before admission so we can discuss their individual circumstances.

Financial

Residents can keep a small Comfort Fund for personal extras that are not included in contracted residential care, such as hairdressing, toiletries, small personal purchases or occasional special outings. Families or the resident’s representative can top this up when needed. A statement and current balance will be sent every two months.

No. Wimbledon Villa does not charge a Premium Accommodation Fee. Residents are not charged an additional room premium on top of the standard contracted residential care fee. For more information, please see our Care Fees & Subsidy page.

Some residents may qualify for a Residential Care Subsidy or, in certain circumstances, a Residential Care Loan. Work and Income assesses eligibility based on the resident’s individual circumstances. Our Care Fees & Subsidy page explains this in more detail, and our team can help point you in the right direction.
